Dual Diploma Enrollment Structure
Program Enrollment Note – OSSD Dual Certification
The 8-Credit OSSD Dual High School Certification (Part-Time Online Program) is open to students worldwide. This program is designed to allow students to continue their existing secondary school education while simultaneously pursuing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through a dual certification pathway.
As a dual diploma program, students are required to complete 7-9 selected OSSD credits alongside their regular school curriculum over a period of up to four (4) years, from Grade 9 to Grade 12.
However, in cases where a student is not enrolled in any recognized secondary school program, the student will be required to complete the full OSSD requirement of 30 credits in order to qualify for the diploma.
The credit structure and academic pathway students will be determined based on:
- The student’s previous academic records
- Entry grade level (Grade 9, 10, 11, or 12)
- Credit equivalency and assessment as per Ontario standards
Accordingly, the required number of credits and duration will be structured to ensure compliance with the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) framework.
This approach ensures flexibility while maintaining academic integrity and global recognition of the certification.

NOTE: Compulsory Subjects: English as second language IELTS 5.5 (Writing >= 5.0) or higher.
Plus: OSSLT: Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), which is required to obtain the OSSD. If students do not pass the OSSLT, they will be required to take an additional course (OLC4O) which will add to the total number of courses.
Assessment & Grading Structure
Full or Dual Diploma
Based on the academic standards for Ontario private schools, the grading system for high school credit courses (Grades 9-12) follows the Ministry of Education requirements, regardless of whether a student is full-time or part-time.
Final Grade Composition: The final grade for any credit course is determined by two components:
Term Work (70%): Evaluation of knowledge, understanding, thinking, communication, and application conducted throughout the course.
Final Evaluation (30%): A final examination, capstone project, or final essay conducted at the end of the course.
Grading Scale: Students receive percentage grades (0–100%) for their credit courses, with 50% being the minimum required to pass and earn the credit. OSSD Alignment: As an accredited institution, William Academy's grades lead toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
For part-time students specifically taking a set number of credits (such as 8), the grading structure remains consistent with these provincial standards to ensure the credits are recognized for university or college applications.

Advisory Note for Students Exploring Alternative Schooling Pathways
For students who do not wish to continue with a regular full-time schooling system and are seeking a flexible academic pathway alongside the OSSD Dual Diploma, one possible option is to consider enrollment with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Government of India.
NIOS is a well-established and widely recognized open schooling board that offers flexible learning opportunities for both Indian and international students. Students can typically enroll in 5–6 subjects and appear directly for Grade 10 and Grade 12 public examinations.
NIOS examinations are conducted globally, including through Indian embassies and designated centers in various countries, and its certification is broadly accepted for further education and academic progression in many parts of the world.
By pursuing NIOS alongside the OSSD programme, students may create a dual academic pathway, combining national-level certification with an internationally recognized Canadian diploma.
